GLASSES: We strongly recommend that you talk to your eye doctor about borrowing a pair of frames similar to what you wear, without the lenses, to be used in the portraits. The lenses reflect like a mirror leaving a glass-glare in the final portrait (There is an extra charge for glass-glare enhancement). No photo-gray lenses.
MEN: Polo shirts, vests, sweaters, causal pants and jeans are good choices for outdoor portraits (Avoid busy prints and patterns) When wearing a suit or sport jacket, men should wear a long sleeve shirt.
WOMEN: A dress or skirt and sweater or blouse are best (Avoid sleeveless and busy prints and patterns) Sport outfits, jeans, etc. are suitable for casual outdoor poses. Shorts and extremely short skirts are not the best choice. Long sleeves photograph best.
Harmonious color and of low intensity produce a more pleasing overall effect. (Example: DARK COLORS navy, blue, burgundy, plum, chocolate brown and forest green; LIGHT COLORS pastel pink, blue or aqua, powder pink, mauve, teal, beige, peach, ivory, and gray). Light and dark contrast together, keep in mind that light colors look larger than dark, meaning that the eye will go to the lightestrightest area first. Also off-white or ivory photographs better than true white.
Make-Up for Women:
Accent the eyes using mascara and eyeliner.
Eye shadow should be used sparingly.
A light foundation or base gives the complexion an even tone.
Use powder to eliminate shine.
A blusher gives the skin a healthy glow.
Coordinate lipstick with the outfit worn.
If dark circles are present under the eyes, use an erase that is close to the skin tone.
If the make-up is professionally done, one may want to experiment before the day of the session.
A change in your hairstyle is not recommended. Arrange your hair normally and as you want it to appear in the portrait. Freshly shampooed hair photographs best. Major rearranging of hair is not possible at the studio due to time limits.
Recommendations for Men:
Have a fresh shave and freshly shampooed hair
Baggy pants, or shorts, do not photograph well and are not recommended.
